It is reported that the railway network in northern Germany has recently fallen into widespread chaos. Affected by multiple failures and railway construction, rail freight between important ports such as Hamburg and Bremen and the inland has basically been interrupted, and a large number of trains have stagnated.
Local media reports show that the railway between Hamburg and Bremen has been completely closed due to the construction of a new roadbed; the line from Hanover to Hamburg has stopped operating due to a contact network failure. What is more serious is that the only two detours, one is blocked due to a train failure, and the other is already in an overloaded state.
Due to the interruption of rail transport between major ports, port freight has also been in trouble.
Currently, about 70 freight trains bound for Hamburg and Bremen Haven can only stop midway and wait for passage. Operators have warned that the two major European ports have basically lost effective connection with the railway network, and the cargo backlog problem in port yards and inland hubs continues to intensify.
