US companies demand high tariffs on foreign chassis

The US Chassis Manufacturers Alliance recently submitted a petition to the Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission, requesting anti-dumping duties on trailer chassis imported from Mexico, Thailand and Vietnam, with tax rates of 32.37%, 234.06% and 304.68% respectively. This is the second time that the US domestic industry has sought protection measures after the anti-dumping duties were imposed on China International Marine Containers Group in 2020. The alliance accused producers in these countries of benefiting from government subsidies, resulting in unfair competition for US producers. However, some relevant people believe that these allegations are unfounded and accuse domestic manufacturers of using trade regulations to sacrifice industry interests. The US Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission will decide whether to initiate an investigation and make a preliminary ruling within 20 days and 45 days respectively.
